Time to Plan again

Well all good things must come to an end. Everyone who attended the reunion had a great time and the weather even cooperated for the past few days.

Wednesday was a very busy day. The best part for the under 5 bunch was the pile of dirt Christian brought over for the kids to play in. A shade structure was added for sun protection.

I had a chance to finally make a pen with my brother David. He had all sorts of wood and I used some Cherry pieces to match my kitchen. The turned out beautifully but when it came time to put the pieces together the pieces split. I did not have time to do it again due to the baby duty and much to my surprise David redid that piece for me. Thank-you David. I will take a photo for all to see.

We were able to go on a hike led by Will Meyer. We missed any announcements about the hike but as we were coming out the petting zoo with the kids in the double stroller we found the hiking group. They said the stroller could come and so it came. I think it was used to its limits but surprisingly with all the bounces and jiggles the babies both took a nap. Amazing. We had beautiful scenery with some great views.

Another group went to Barclay's house for some fishing. Barclay and Dean lead that event. If you would like to share what you did that would be great.

Last night with the family auction. Some beautiful items were auctioned off. Homemade cards, quilts, photos, gift baskets, toys, calendars, shirts and more were available. Part of the auction was also a silent auction. Christian did a great
job calling for the auction and some good money was raised for the next reunion.

Today was a day for goodbyes and packing up. Considerable effort was made to return and clean up the camp for the Meyers. Thanks for all who helped. I am proud to belong to such a great family.

Please add your comments and experiences. Don't forget to check my picassa album for photos.

The very busy Indian Falls

Today, a large group of us went to Indian Falls. Apparently the place is usually empty. Today there were a couple hundred people there and the parking lot was full. It is amazing that so many people live in this area. Apparently a camp in Quincy was swimming there today. It was fun to see my Dad, Lucille and Brita all swimming. The weather although it is hot it is not as bad as yesterday.

Sharon Eccles:
The crafters made baskets today. Suzanne's sister in law, Diane Fuller, taught us how to weave baskets. She brought some really cool materials to weave with such as reeds, raffia, beads, iris leaves, yarns, ribbon and rope. Lucille's half completed basket looks like a hippie wig. Gwen, Sharon Lee, Becci, Marilynne, Heather, Jennifer, Julie Grace and Sharon Louise were the other basket weavers. We had a great time creating interesting shapes and now have a new appreciation for basket making. Diane told us that all baskets are made by hand.

It is Hot in Greenville

The views are lovely here but it has been hot. Very hot! At least in Arizona we have ac. It is supposed to be cooler tomorrow and nice the rest of the week. We tripled or quadrupled the size of the Greenville branch today. Tonight we had a terrific tri tip bbq dinner and dutch oven pineapple upside down cake. Yum, Everything was wonderful. Cameron presented a slide show from the 2007 reunion. Great Job. We're having a great time renewing family ties.

Photos are really hard to upload to this site. I have uploaded photos to picassa instead. Here is the link. Look for the reunion album.

Arrival at Greenville

After a long day of driving we finally arrived in Greenville. The drive up the Feather River Canyon was lovely although a much longer drive than I expected. The weather this evening is lovely although I think it will be a bit warm during the day.

My Trip to Greenville

A couple weeks ago I thought I was the only member of my immediate family going. I was not looking forward to sleeping in a tent by myself. I was not looking forward to driving 900 miles by myself. I even made a reservation for Dale to drive with me to Sacramento and fly home on Sunday morning. I then found that I could get a ride from LA with Sharon and Dave. Then Debbie had her baby a little early and we think Geoff can go with Jacob. Now Elara is flying with me to LA and we are driving up with Geoff. I am now a family of four and that is exciting. Last night as I was trying to figure how I was going to fly with everything I needed, my clothing, sleeping bag, baby sleeping bag, car seat, portable baby bed...the thought was daunting, Kenny came to my rescue, I was able to drop off the sleeping bags with him. Now I am looking forward to a 1 hour flight with a toddler on my lap...fun stuff. We will caravan with Sharon and Dave and hopefully the babies will not be too much of a problem (they both have their individual DVD players). I only have to work for 2 more days and that is a great thought. I am looking forward to seeing everyone and having a great time. Brita
